• Statistics
  • The free statistical software, R, can be downloaded from here. Once installed add packages using install.packages("packageName"), I recommend Hmisc and fastR.
  • Run this R script to see a bit of functionality (instructions appear as comments at the top of the file).

• On-line LaTeX editor ShareLaTeX, create an account and you are ready to go.
• Downloadable LaTeX editor TexWorks is an editor/compiler for Miktex.

• Writing Examples
  • One example of a paper is this one on large rare water waves which is available in pdf format as well as a LaTeX format (with lots of unreadable images that you need to scroll past).
  • A much simpler example in pdf format and LaTeX format.
  • An example of a high quality student lab report.
  • Find many examples of papers from a discipline you find interesting at arXiv.org.
