The Mande Studies Association is an independent society with membership open to all individuals with an academic or professional interest in the Mande region of West Africa. Our organization is international and multidisciplinary, with members across the globe and across the academic-intellectual spectrum.

The following classes of membership are available:

Regular and institutional membership dues are $40 per year and include Mande Studies, our yearly journal and the MANSA Newsletter.

Sponsoring memberships are $60 per year and include Mande Studies and the MANSA Newsletter.

Full student memberships are $30 and include Mande Studies.

Basic student memberships (excluding Mande Studies) are $15 per year.

African colleagues residing in Africa are not required to pay dues.  The cost of sending these individuals the MANSA Newsletter is covered through sponsoring memberships.

African colleagues at European and North American universities pay regular dues.

Should you decide to join MANSA, find the membership form link at the top of this page and complete the appropriate sections, print the document and send it along with a check for your membership dues to the appropriate address below. Once you become a member you will be placed on the mailing list for our newsletter, which normally appears 3 times per year, and will be invited to attend and participate in the MANSA business meetings which are held at the annual meeting of the African Studies Association.  In order to keep you posted on timely issues, you will also be added to our e-mail distribution list.

Please address all membership correspondence to the MANSA
