The idea of this assignment is to help you to gather some information on your "students" before working with them on a problem solving activity.
What to do:
1. Select a non-routine problem to use with your peers. You can use the one you selected for your problem solving lesson plan. If you choose a new problem, solve it yourself first and then get it approved by me.
2. You will be assigned to a group consisting of you and four of your colleagues. In class, on April 21 (after the reading exam), you will meet with your group and discuss your different learning styles. Your job will be to take notes on the learning styles of your four colleagues so that you can prepare to work with them on a problem solving activity in an appropriate way.
3. Using the information you gathered from your peers, you will prepare a problem solving lesson. You do NOT have to prepare a formal lesson plan. However, you should have ideas about how you should introduce the problem and ways you will facilitate your group's solution of the problem. You should also be prepared to have your group members share their solutions and strategies and assess their understanding of the problem. This will take place in class on April 28.
4. Following the teaching of this lesson, you will write a reflection on your experience. The reflection should include the following sections:
