First Math Lesson Plan Directions

Note: Most of this activity will be done in class.

1. Work with your group to understand the alternative algorithm you have been assigned.

2. Teach your alternative algorithm to another group via jigsaw.

3. With your group, create a DRAFT lesson plan to teach or introduce the alternative algorithm to third or fourth grade children.

4. Email your completed draft lesson plan to Andrea by Friday, February 12, 2010 (andrea.lachance@cortland.edu).

5. Andrea will email you back comments on your draft by Monday, February 15, 2010.

6. Revise your lesson plan based on these comments ON YOUR OWN.

7. Submit a final version of your lesson plan via email or hard copy on Friday, February 19, 2010.
