Distractibility vs. Attention Span

The student who is distracted observeseverything and is often found looking at everything but what he or she issuppose to. In contrast, the student who has a short attention span observesvery little. Students with ADD know what is going on around them, but they donot always actively participate as other students do. ADD students that areeasily distracted have a harder time modifying their behavior and for thisreason, drugs are usually prescribed. However, students with a short attentionspan may become more focused as they get older or if the problem still persists, the treatment focuses on behavior modification.
