Dr. Sharon Cantrell is our postdoctoral associate based at the Sabana Field Research Station in Puerto Rico. She has been concentrating on a monograph of the Hygrophoraceae, but she is interested in all fungi and fungal molecular systematics. She obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Georgia under the guidance of Dr. Richard Hanlin working on systematics of inoperculate discomycetes. She is an extremely good field collector and has become very knowledgeable about a wide variety of basidiomycetes. Sharon coordinates and leads many of our expeditions, especially those to the Dominican Republic.
